Membership
Why Membership?
We believe that from the earliest followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, believers have identified with and committed themselves to a particular local body. In light of this understanding, Hope Oakville affirms the value of formal membership.
How Do I Become A Member?
First, get an informed sense of who we are: Step One is an informal meet-and-greet where you’ll meet some of our pastors, hear about who we are as a church, and ask any questions you may have. Step One takes place on the second Sunday of the month immediately after every service.
We believe God describes clearly in His Word what an authentic Christ-follower looks like and how they are to spend their time. Step Two is a two-week class that takes a deeper look into what we believe as a Christian community and seeks to equip you to live out the Christian life here at Hope Oakville.
Step Three is to connect in discipleship and serving. We firmly believe that you thrive as a follower of Jesus when you take steps to serve and belong to a community of believers. After all, this is God’s design for your life. If you’re calling our church home, then we want you to get involved and truly belong to our family! Pursue Christ in community through one of our Group Life ministries, and find a place to serve here. You must be actively involved at Hope for a minimum of six months before applying for membership.
Step Four is to complete our Understanding Church Membership Class. This is a requirement before applying for membership. You can get info and register for the upcoming class at https://hopeinstitute.ca/understanding-church-membership/.
Once you have completed Steps 1–4, have been baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ, and are 18 years old and older, reach out to us at Membership@HopeOakville.ca. Once we have received your request, we will email you an application form with next steps and set up an interview to meet with you and hear more of your story.
